Once we were ushered to our interview with Lisa Price, all recorders were set and all eyes and ears were focused on Lisa ready to hear what she had to say as we chatted.
Q1: How do you maintain a healthy work life balance - specifically not making your family feel left out?
A1: My recorder cut off right before Lisa answered this question, but what she said, I will never forget. Lisa mentioned that some days her family does feel left out. She said there are days when she's a great mother, a great wife and a great business owner. It's hard for her to be great at all things all the time, and it's OK. She has stopped trying to be perfect and that's what has helped her maintain a healthy work life balance.
Q2: From when you first started Carol's Daughter to it's present business state, are there any things if you had the opportunity to do over again, you'd change?
A2: "....to some extent yes and to some extent no, because I feel like the the mistakes that I made, I made them to learn from them, so to go back and change it, you don't really get to do that and you don't get to learn from the mistake. But, I would trust myself more and trust my gut instincts more about certain things."
Q3: With all the facades of your business which part are you more hands on?
A3: "Product Develop definitely. That's the one I'm most hands on with and strategic... thinking of next business moves. Marketing to some extent; I'm not a "marketer", but making sure marketing knows why something is or has been created, and what it is that I need to be able to say about it to be comfortable. Because ultimately, I'm the person who's going to go on HSN to sell something, and I'm not going to stand there and say words that you want me to say because this is the trend or this is what people are saying or this is what is going to pull sales. It has to be natural, it has to be comfortable, it has to be honest."
After our interview, we took a few more pictures, I captured the essence of the day, and walked away again feeling like I met a genuine spirit.
